Galvanization by centrifugation

WHY USE GALVANIZATION BY CENTRIFUGATION

The centrifugation technique, also called galvanization by spinning, is used to galvanize small parts (fasteners, screws, threaded rods, …).

Excess zinc is removed during the centrifugation process to reduce the excessive thicknesses of zinc in the threads of the bolts, or the holes of fasteners.

We offer centrifugal galvanization for your small parts on our GALVA 08 sites (click here to see the GALVA 08 video) and GALVA 45.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCESS

  • The surface preparation before galvanizing by centrifugation can be carried out dry or wet. The wet method is the classic method in galvanizing and is particularly suitable for hollow parts. The dry process consists of a cleaning operation of the part by shot blasting. This method is used for the treatment of HR bolts, cast iron parts and other solid parts.
  • Instead of being attached to fixtures, the parts to be galvanized are arranged in batches.
  • The baskets are then placed in a bath of molten zinc at about 450 ° so that they are galvanized.
  • These baskets are centrifuged at the emersion of the zinc bath, which effectively removes excess zinc from the parts to be galvanized.
  • So that the centrifuged parts do not stick to each other, they are cooled in a water bath just after centrifugation.

THE ADVANTAGES OF CENTRIFUGATION BY GALVA UNION

  • All the corrosion protection qualities of hot-dip galvanizing for small parts.
  • A good quality of finish which very often makes it possible to avoid the mechanical recoveries of the galvanized parts.
  • Several decades of experience in centrifugal galvanization allow the GALVA UNION group’s teams to master this process perfectly.
  • Centrifugation is an economical solution when it comes to galvanizing a large amount of small parts.
