Hot-dip galvanizing

Definition : Hot-dip galvanizing

Hot dip galvanizing consists of the coating of steel articles by immersion in a bath of molten zinc. The process goes further than simply depositing zinc on the surface of the steel : a metallurgical bond forms between the zinc coating and the base steel because there is a diffusion reaction between the iron and the zinc. The hot-dip galvanizing process consists of several stages, each of which uses well-proven techniques.
