Cold galvanizing

Definition : Cold galvanizing

Galvanizing is a process that consists of coating a metal part with a layer of zinc to protect it against corrosion. The term galvanizing is frequently used as a short form in place of the expression « hot dip galvanizing », which consists in immersing steel parts in molten zinc.

The phrase « cold galvanizing » is sometimes used for paint having the color of a galvanized coating, or containing zinc. This is a misuse of the term. In such cases, it is preferable to use the term « zinc enriched paint ».
